Road trip Algarve, Portugal

When I launched my new website 2 years ago, I thought I will be blogging every single week.

Well… 🙂 I´m really bad at it.

I don´t know how other people do it, while being busy with work, relationships, friends, family, sports and the house. I guess I should work on my time management 😉 .

Anyways, I felt like it is time for showing some travel photos.

Last year in July I spent 10 days in Portugal and I totally forgot about my photos (haven´t looked at them at all) until now 🙂 .

I really fell in love with Portugal! I never understood people who always travel to the same place. Now I do. It´s not that I would go there for a big trip every single year, that´s just not me, there is so much to see in the world, but it´s nice to go there for a couple of days. It´s close, cheap and beautiful. And even in high season, you will find lots of places, which are just not as crowded, because they are still a „secret“.

I started my trip in Olhao, which is about 20 km away from Faro and spent the first 3 nights there. It´s a small fishing town and has no beach itself, but you can jump on a ferry which brings you to beautiful close by islands. I rented a scooter and discovered the area around Olhao in the evenings, which was big fun.

On day 4 a friend of mine joined, we rented a car and drove about 100 km to the west coast, to Carrapateira. This place is just incredible. Beautiful beaches, landscapes, sanddunes, wind, delicious sea food, remote places for nature lover´s, not so many tourists. I need to go back very soon, to take better photos in better light. These are just my impressions, some of these were taken with the iPhone.

Places visited:

Isla do Farol – Tavira – Isla Armona – Olhao – Carrapateira – Praia de Borderia – Praia do Amado – Praia d´Ana (Lagos)

Enjoy the photos 🙂

P.S. The funniest thing is to know a person who is afraid of windmills. On our way to the hotel we had to pass them a couple of times a day….. I almost drove down an abyss because of laughing 🙂
